TracerPlus with Mobile BLE Beacon Scanning capabilities makes it easy for anyone to track high value assets and critical personnel. With increased range ( 300 ft / 100 meters ) and scanning performance as compared to traditional RFID scanning.
TracerPlus supports iOS and Android based devices scanning both iBeacon and Eddystone protocols. Quickly take inventory and capture additional information that is transmitted with the beacon data. This can include things such as unique identifiers for the item, battery life and temperature, and URL information depending on the beacon type chosen. A rough distance can also be captured from the beacon to show how close you are to an item
A Bluetooth Beacon is a battery-powered radio transmitter that operates using Bluetooth standards. In general, a Bluetooth Beacon will simply transmit its identity to any device listening. This transmission can include the identity of the beacon, a URL, battery level, among other things, and depending on the beacon type.
There are several benefits to using Bluetooth Beacons over traditional RFID. These can include read range and compatibility with most consumer and enterprise-grade mobile devices. Bluetooth Beacons are also well-suited for keeping track of the location of an item within a facility or yard.
Common applications for Bluetooth Beacons are personnel tracking, high-value asset tracking, and any situation where coverage of a large area is required.

The iBeacon format was developed by Apple and includes data needed to uniquely identify an item to which it is affixed. The data that is transmitted from an iBeacon includes a UUID identifier and Major/Minor numbers. This data allows TracerPlus to determine the identity of the beacon as it is scanned.
iBeacons will also transmit out data so that can be used to determine the current distance a TracerPlus mobile device is from it. This can be used to locate the item to which the beacon is attached.
Eddystone beacons were developed by Google and offer some additional data that can be transmitted from the beacon other than just the beacon’s identity. These are called Eddystone Frame Types and are described below:
